Barrhaven's clay-rich subsoil and the Strandherd Drive corridor's young housing stock create a very specific contracting challenge. We've been building and restoring driveways, bathrooms and kitchens here since 2017.

If you've lived in Barrhaven for more than five winters, you know the story: the driveway looks fine through fall, then by April there's a wave running across the front. That's the clay-rich subsoil under most of Barrhaven heaving and contracting through the freeze-thaw cycle. It's worse here than in Kanata or Westboro because the soil holds more water.
We grade Barrhaven driveways to a slightly deeper excavation (12 inches minimum), put down geotextile fabric to separate native soil from base, and use 10 inches of compacted HPB limestone. We also pay close attention to drainage — Barrhaven's flat lots make grading away from the foundation non-optional. The result: driveways that stay flat after 5 winters.
